About the Role
This is not a traditional maintenance position.
The Director of Asset Operations will own the strategy, reliability, and lifecycle management of Legacybox’s fleet of specialized media digitization equipment. This role is responsible for maximizing uptime, optimizing capital investments, and building scalable systems that support production growth. The position blends operational leadership, financial decision-making, and technical asset management.
What You’ll Do
- Own the Equipment Fleet: Oversee the performance, reliability, and lifecycle of specialized production equipment.
- Drive Reliability: Implement preventive maintenance strategies to ensure consistent uptime and throughput.
- Optimize Capital Investments: Evaluate repair versus replacement decisions to maximize asset ROI.
- Build Scalable Systems: Establish SOPs, KPIs, and asset tracking processes that support operational efficiency.
- Lead Vendor Partnerships: Manage external repair vendors and parts suppliers to ensure quality and cost control.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with Production, Finance, and Engineering to align asset strategy with business needs.
- Lead and Develop the Team: Recruit, mentor, and manage technicians responsible for equipment support.
What This Role Is Not
To ensure alignment with the right candidates, this position is not focused on:
- Facilities or building maintenance (HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
- Janitorial or general facilities management
- Break-fix supervision without strategic ownership
Ideal Candidate Background
Strong candidates will have experience designing and managing scalable asset systems in environments where production equipment is critical to operational success. Ideal backgrounds include:
- Manufacturing
- Logistics or fulfillment operations
- AV or media equipment environments
- Production labs or hardware-intensive settings
Additionally, candidates are likely to have:
- Owned or managed equipment fleets valued at more than $1 million
- Built or improved asset management and reliability systems
- Worked within SOP-driven operational environments
- Managed vendor repair networks and external service partners
- Applied financial analysis to repair versus replacement decisions
- Implemented or overseen preventive maintenance systems
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience managing production or operational equipment.
- 3+ years of leadership experience overseeing technical or operational teams.
- Demonstrated success in developing scalable asset management processes.
- Experience with CMMS or similar asset tracking and maintenance systems.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen related to equipment lifecycle and ROI.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and vendor relationships.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
